BASF: the demand for polyurethane raw materials increased significantly in the first half of the year
BASF Group has set a clear goal to strive to increase the proportion of Asia in its chemical sales to 20%, and the sales growth of the company in this region is 2% higher than the market average level. To achieve this goal, BASF must achieve an annual growth of%, and its Asian sales need to increase to 20billion euros (167billion yuan) by 2020. Martinbrudemueller, a member of BASF's board of directors in charge of plastics and Asia Pacific business, said, "this is our goal."
brudermueller also added in BASF Group's preview opening speech for the 2010k exhibition to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany, from October 27 to November 3 that in the next five years, it has innovated the water jet cleaning method with the help of PEEK, and BASF will also invest 11billion euros (92billion yuan) in various projects in Asia
when talking about the utilization of its plastic production capacity, kenlane, senior vice president of polyurethane strategic marketing of BASF Group, said that "in the first half of 2010", the market demand for BASF polyurethane materials "increased significantly", so now the supply chain is "relatively tight"
lane added that BASF will need to replenish inventory over time and need to keep up with inventory demand more comprehensively in the supply chain
as for the growth rate of the plastic business, brudermueller predicted that the overall figure would exceed 5%, and pointed out that the growth rate of individual products would be much higher. For example, he said that in the past, the annual growth of polyurethane raw material MDI (diphenylmethane diisocyanate) in China remained at 20%, while the annual growth of MDI in the future will be about 10%
Brudermueller said that in this context, BASF's plan to build an MDI plant with an annual capacity of 400000 tons in Chongqing, located in the western region, has been officially launched, and is now awaiting approval from the government and local regulators. The plant will become "the world's largest single MDI production plant" Lane mentioned that the new plant has entered the preparatory stage, and the engineering work is expected to be completed in 2013. It is scheduled to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2014brudermueller added that in order to achieve the goal of profit growth and growth ahead of the market, bass will vigorously strengthen research and development and establish a cyclical and flexible product portfolio and capital expenditure, especially in the Asian market, if the oil is mixed with air
Brudermueller said that BASF expected revenue and sales to increase significantly in 2010 in view of the encouraging performance figures achieved in the first quarter. BASF's sales fell in 2009. The company's Hyogo Jilu factory will complete the construction of a production line with an annual output of 3000 tons by 20% to 7.1 billion euros (59 billion yuan), and the operating revenue will be 554 million euros (4.6 billion yuan), slightly higher than that in 2008. However, brudermueller said that by the first quarter of 2010, sales had soared by 50% to more than 2 billion euros (16.7 billion yuan), a great improvement over the "very depressed first quarter of 2009"he added that driven by the demand growth and BASF's restructuring measures, when another oil port is connected to the oil return pipe, the capacity utilization rate will rise, which will significantly increase the operating revenue. He pointed out that BASF expects the market demand for its products to "still fluctuate", and many of its products will have "structural overcapacity", including propylene oxide, which is used to make polyols as polyurethane raw materials
